What better way to get your Mac prepared for Halloween than fitting its desktop with a nice Jack-O-Lantern? This is what you get in Mac-O-Lantern, a desktop icon to get you into the creepy Halloween atmosphere.

You can choose between two pumpkin sizes, have a candle or not in the pumpkin and set the flicker rate. Mac-O-Lantern is easy to launch, all you need to do is double click the icon, and it can be placed anywhere you like.

The developer does let users know on his web page that Mac-O-Lantern can hog your CPU when it is animated. At best, we suggest leaving it static for most of the time and only animating it when you have few applications active.

Mac-O-Lantern (formerly Jack-O-Mac) is an animated (or not animated) Halloween Jack-O-Lantern for your desktop. Double click to launch. Options include animated or non-animated (animated will suck down your CPU), candle or no candle, large or small pumpkin, animated dock icon, etc.
